Acne and effective Ayurvedic treatment

Tarunya Pitika ( Pimples) skin disorder is called the curse of youth as 50 to 60% of youths between the ages of 13 to 26 are affected by this skin disorder. Due to this lack of personality is felt along with the confidence is also reduced so this disorder gives physical and mental hardship to the youth. Due to TV shows, movies, beauty contests, the sweet dream of fresh and smooth skin and beautiful looks is in the minds of all the youth, especially the young women, but for many, this dream is far away and unfulfilled. The main reason for this skin disorder is the rising hormones of this age, aggravated Kapha-Vata-Rakta Dosha and wrong diet.

This skin disorder causes painful or painless pimples and pustules on the face, which are mild in some individuals and severe in others. Generally youth between the ages of 13 and 26 are more affected by this disorder, so it is called Tarunyapithika or Mukhadushika.

Due to the strong hormones and Kapha etc. defects in the skin of the face, excessive amount of oily secretion is produced in the facial skin ( Sebaceous glands ) and sweat glands and the skin becomes oily. A favorable environment is created for the growth of bacteria. The increased bacteria increases the size of the gland and closes its mouth (Pilosebaceous duct) and as a result pimples appear on the face. Along with diet, cosmetics, environment, mental stress, menstruation and periods also play a role in increasing acne. Also, people of pitta nature are more prone to acne.

According to Acharya Sushruta, Mukhadushikas are shaped like the thorns of the shalmali (katesabar) plant and due to Kapha-Vata-Rakta doshas, they are more common on the face of young people.
